2021-2022 SSU Indoor Covid Protocols
IMPORTANT UPDATE
Thank you for all your patience as we wait from the Government, Ontario Soccer & the Town of New Tecumseth on our protocols which we will need to follow for our 2021-2022 Indoor season. They are listed below for your information:
The town of New Tecumseth has released their regulations for going indoors into the turf field for our programs. They are below. If you are unable to adhere to them or don’t feel comfortable with them, and you’ve already signed your child up online, please email me ASAP [email protected] and we will give full refunds or credits.
Effective September 22, 2021
Who is required to show a Vaccine Certificate (two doses plus 14 days) at a Town of New Tecumseth recreation centre or facility?
- All individuals 12 years of age and older. This includes all spectators, players, parents, guardians, coaches, and volunteers.
- The town is phasing in their requirement for youth aged 12-17 such that they must have their first dose by Sep 22nd and be fully vaccinated by October 31st in order to participate directly in a sport activity. Youth aged 12-17 must be fully vaccinated as of Sep 22nd in order to enter the facility for anything other than participating directly in a sport.
- Please note that you will need to show your Vaccine Certificate along with a government issued piece of identification each time you enter the facility. Acceptable forms of identification include:
- Drivers License
- Health Card
- Passport
- Age of Majority Card
- Birth Certificate
As they are not permitted to collect and store vaccination information, please exercise patience as they must check and confirm vaccination status on each visit. You will continue to be required to pre-screen for COVID-19 symptoms and contact trace once vaccine information has been verified by the town staff as well as for South Simcoe United Soccer through our QR code. Please allow yourself enough time to check in prior to your program’s scheduled start time.
- Individuals that do not show proof of vaccination will not be permitted to enter the facility unless they fall under an exemption in the provincial public health orders. Medical exemptions will be required to be supported with an official Doctor’s Note.
- Children 11 years of age and under are not required to be vaccinated, however, the parent or caregiver accompanying the child is required to show their vaccine certificate.
- Players with an organized sport group will be allowed to enter the facility 30 minutes prior to start
- Spectators with an organized sport group will be allowed to enter the facility 15 minutes prior to start
SSU’s procedures:
- Everyone entering the facility for SSU programs will be required to use the SSU QR code to contact trace before entering the main/front doors of the facility. You will want to place all family members in your household on the same QR code in the name field. The QR code should be filled out maximum 30 minutes before entering the facility.
- Parents/Spectators are not allowed to sit on the sidelines, this is due to our capacity limit in the indoor turf field. (Exception is for the 2017-2018 ages, where only one parent & no siblings will be able to attend and sit on the sidelines while social distancing. For our Junior Cubs Toddler program 2018-2020 ages, only one parent will be able to attend with the player).
- We require parents to wait in the parking lot in their vehicle & drop off/pick up your child at the designated entry/exit locations.
- The main doors on the south side of the New Tecumseth Rec Centre will be the entrance location & and north doors adjacent to the Turf field will be the exit doors.
- We will have SSU staff meet each timeslot at the front entrance (10 minutes before the scheduled start) and escort them down to the turf field in a group. All Parents will wait with their child at the main entrance to get checked in and then our staff will bring in ONLY the players from there into the facility and down the hall to the fieldhouse.
- Players, coaches, staff will be required to wear masks in the facility as per government regulations. Coaches and staff will wear masks throughout the entire session on the field, but players if they wish are able to take the masks off once they enter onto the field to start their session. As per government regulations, when exiting the field space, masks must be put back on to exit.
- Players should not attend if feeling ill or have any symptoms.
We need to all work together to keep our club members and families safe and healthy over the next little while, and are asking for a commitment and patience from everyone involved. We are in this together. We are excited to start our Indoor season and look forward to seeing you all soon.
