We are back!

Update

Thank you for your patience as we await updates from the Government and Ontairo Soccer for our Outdoor 2021 soccer season. Starting Monday June 21st we are back!!!! This is an important and final reminder for our start up, which is confirmed. Please carefully read through the below email to know what to expect when you show up next week.

The priority for SSU is the safety and well being of its membership. We have outlined our Return to Play protocols in full detail and have posted it on our website here. We highly encourage you all to make sure you are signed up in your registration profile to receive emails from us, and you constantly make sure to thoroughly read through each and every notice sent out to you. There are many strict protocols that Ontario Soccer has mandated each club and it’s members to follow, as well when we move through the different Phases and things open up, things will be ever changing and we need each and every one of our members to be in the know about all details and what is expected of them.

We just got an exciting update from HDSL (League). Please see what they just sent out: “After careful deliberation, the HDSA board anticipates being able to run a HDSL season, once current restrictions allow. At this time District will not be allowing teams to travel out of Huronia District, nor outside teams to travel in. Further details regarding the season are still to come, and will be shared as soon as possible.” Very exciting and promising for 2021 Outdoor season. We will keep you all posted once we have more info sent to us.

We will begin with TRAINING ONLY for our Development and Competitive teams only in Stage 1 the week of June 21st. This means things will look similar to our start last Outdoor 2020 season on the field, with training of 10 participants per field quadrant with distancing of 2 metres. We will also be extending the Outdoor season into end of September this year. A reminder in Stage 1 we will have no scrimmages, and players spread out doing training. Once we move to Stage 2 we are hopeful this will change, but haven’t been given the exact regulations just yet and we will keep you posted once we hear. Once we are able to, we will put together a game schedule amongst our own Development/Competitive teams and try and keep those scrimmages on the set practice nights already scheduled. We are hopeful this can take place in Stage 2. If HDSL starts their league in Stage 2, we will not be doing scrimmages amongst our own club teams, and we will more then likely have 2 practices per week and one game per team. Things are very up in the air until we get confirmation from the HDSL league on starting that.

For now to start, with training for teams 2 times per week the schedule will be as follows:

U9-11B- Monday/Wednesday- 7pm- GS Gaston Field 4

U9-10G- Thursday 7pm/ Sunday 6pm- GS Gaston Field 5

U12B- Thursday/Sunday- 7pm- GS Gaston Field 4

U12G- Wednesday 7pm- GS Gaston Field D/Sunday 6pm- GS Gaston Field 5

U13G- Monday/Wednesday- 7pm- GS Gaston Field 5

U16G- Monday/Wednesday- 7pm- GS Gaston Field 5

COST- At this time we won’t be accepting payment. We will need to wait till we hear from HDSL league on the schedule/start & end dates to determine the full cost. I will update you with details as soon as we have them.

REGISTRATION– We do ask that everyone be pre-registered by going into the registration system and at check out click office/offline payment and fully process your registration from there, as to not be charged at this time.

Within this starting phase, SSU must adhere to guidelines and recommendations set out by Ontario Soccer. Some important ones to note are below:

* Individual training – no group drills.

* Be mindful of the current social distancing guidelines, which is staying 2 metres apart (6 feet). Players will not be allowed to play in the same area as another player. Each player will be placed in a personal activity area, which will be outlined in white paint. The activity area will allow the players to maintain social distancing from the other players on the pitch. We are only allowed to have 10 players and 1 coach in one area. If the team is greater than 10 players, there will have to be an assistant coach or manager to help out with the second set of players.

* Players will enter their pitch at a certain location and will exit in a different location. There will be a volunteer set up at each entrance and exit point who you will check in with each night. Please look at our field map here

* Please do not park near the entry and exit points.

* There will be signs posted at each entry point for your fields.

*Look for the orange flags to see where the 2 entry points are.

Parents are not allowed to sit on the sidelines. We require parents to wait in the parking lot in their vehicle. You will drop your child off at the Entry point and pick them up from the Exit point.

* If a ball comes into another player’s activity area, that player must step away and allow the other player who lost their ball the opportunity to retrieve their ball OR they can ONLY KICK the ball back.

* Players, coaches and staff will be required to sanitize their hands prior to entering the pitch. A volunteer will be set up at the entrance to ensure they sanitize their hands. If you do not sanitize your hands, you will not be allowed on the pitch. If a player has an allergy to hand sanitizer, soap and water will be provided. The player will have to wash their hands before entering the pitch. When drying hands, discard in waste bin.

* When practice is finished and the player is leaving the pitch, the player will be required to sanitize their ball and their hands, as well as check out of the pitch.

* Players must avoid touching their eyes, nose or mouth during the practice.

* When coughing or sneezing, the player should do so in the bend of their arm – NEVER into their hand.

* Players are not allowed to pick up someone else’s ball.

* Players are not allowed to use someone else’s water bottle.

* Players are not allowed to bring a bag or electronic devices to the pitch. They must be fully dressed before entering the pitch – cleats and shin pads on.

* Players are only allowed a ball and water bottle (labeled) for practice.

* Players are reminded to wash their uniforms after every practice. Uniforms will be handed out this week as well.

* Players should not attend if feeling ill or have any symptoms.

* Players should not carpool unless with immediate family.

* Players must arrive NO MORE THAN 15 MINUTES prior to the session.

*MASKS- It is mandatory for Coaches/Volunteers to wear masks at all times. Players will be asked to wear a mask until they get to their designated field at which time they are able to take them off for training.

Waivers:

* There will be 3 waivers to fill out prior to being allowed on the pitch. If the waivers are not completed by Sunday June 20, the player will not be allowed on the pitch.

* The 3 waivers can be completed electronically through our online registration system.

The steps to sign the 3 waivers are as follows:

1) Sign into your online registration profile here (if you do not remember your password us the forget password button on the right hand side to reset it)

2) In your profile on the right hand side you’ll see “Players”. Click on the Red button beside each player registered to complete the waivers.

3) A waiver needs to be completed for EACH player.

* Before each practice, a Covid-19 Symptoms Checklist must be filled out by each player with the check in volunteer at the field. The player cannot enter the pitch until this checklist is completed.

Contact tracing will also be completed upon entering the field. A volunteer will confirm your name, phone number, date and time of entry and exit. This to, must be completed before the start of each practice.

Outdoor Information:

* All training will take place at GS Gaston Fields

Players will be required to wear their uniform to each practice (the coach will determine which colour jersey to wear each practice night).  We will be handing out the uniforms next week on the field.

As a not-for profit club, these tough times have hit us hard over the last little while. Our full time administrator has and will continue to mainly work from home, but on very limited hours per week due to these tough times. We have placed our phone services on hold for now as we are needing to cut down on expenses wherever possible. Please use [email protected] to communicate with us during this difficult time. Please be patient as she goes through all the many inquiries and requests through this time. Thank you for your support and understanding during this unprecedented time. Stay safe everyone – we look forward to seeing everyone on the pitch very soon! We can’t wait to see the smiling faces of all the players out on the fields this coming week. Thank you to all our volunteers, board members and our staff for making this all happen
